The B-Boy/B-Girl are the arbiters of style in Hip-Hop. The dancer was the original front man/woman before the MC. They manifest the magic the DJ created. The use of dance as a from of communication is thousands of years old. This course will trace B-Boying roots back to African Dance and the Brazilian art of Capoeira. We will also examine dance’s impact on Hip-Hop from ‘The Wop” to “JuJu On That Beat”.
One of the more international aspects of Hip-Hop, our study will take us from the streets of the South Bronx to Watts and all the way to S. Korea.
Students will jump, shake, spin and moonwalk as the work with instructors to choreograph their own routines.
